  • Biography
Corrie Thomson is an artist living and working in Glasgow, who works predominantly with Sculpture and Installation. Corrie's practice revolves around the suggestive nature of the sculptural object and is heavily informed by architecture, furniture, and the design and engineering of everyday objects. The artist is intrigued by the patterns and forms that emerge through close investigation of the associated processes of each direction of research. Conventional methods of designing, constructing and making are manipulated, altered, refined and moulded to meet the artist’s specifications, in turn creating objects with much more anonymity. Corrie’s work seeks to find where the overlap lies between the maquette and the sculpture, the model and the object. Through the manipulation of scale and a focus on the act of positioning, each material or object within a sculptural scenario becomes a lens through which you should view the next. The artist ultimately seeks to explore how each element can individually identify with the familiar, yet collectively appear alien.
