  • Biography
Anuschka Barlas is in the final year of a BA in Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art. Her practice combines observation from life with memory and imagination to capture the sensation and emotive qualities of familiar places and people. During the pandemic, Anuschka spent a year living in the Scottish Highlands and her subject matter shifted from life drawing in the studio and in public spaces to rural and isolated landscapes. These contrasting experiences combine to create curious moments of stillness, ambiguity and a tension between the familiar and the strange in her drawings, paintings and tapestries.
