Johnston

I am inspired by layered rock formations in the natural environment, my sculptures are carved by hand from locally sourced Scottish Douglas fir, each element selected to maintain continuity across the form. I work with natural pigments in an attempt to capture the pallete of weathered stone. My work reflects my interest in the compacted and fractured character of stratified rock and it’s varied colours.
