Highland born and working between Edinburgh and for many years Sutherland, the north of Scotland or wherever she travels,prefering to work en plein air if possible, Fiona has always been drawn to the landscape and the effect on it of the constantly changing light and skies in particular and to capture the essence of that initial transient moment while absorbing everything around her as she works on site or from sketches and memory in the studio,favouring predominantly oil and watercolour. Her work also reflects her lifelong love of gardens,birds and wildlife. While qualified and originally working as a solicitor in Edinburgh, Fiona ,who had always drawn and painted, attended many classes at Edinburgh College of Art including many years of History of Art.

Previous Experience

She has exhibited in Edinburgh since 1990 with joint and shared exhibitions in Hanover Fine Arts,the Laurel Gallery,Barnes and Fitzgerald,the Edinburgh Gallery (later Grilli Gallery),Just Scottish, Gallery 41( later Colours,), The Kingfisher Gallery and elsewhere Peter Potter,Haddngton,Dirleton Gallery,Lennoxlove,Westgate Gallery,Aberfeldy Gallery,Shoreline Studio,Aberdour, Pitlochry Festival Theatre,The Jail,Dornoch, Beauly Gallery,Alder Arts,Beauly,Tore Gallery and Golspie Gallery. Commissions also welcomed.
