Ann

Gibson

I find inspiration for my creative output from colour and materials and from a playful response to media, surfaces and substrates, including recycled and found materials. I am an abstract painter, also working in collage and 3D. In a throwaway world, I consciously try not to consume materials unnecessarily, often using discarded packaging, previously painted papers and scraps of fabrics. I also incorporate paint, fabrics and other materials into 3D works, and use traditional techniques like stitching and weaving. With a long-standing interest in history (having taught for many years), and in music, as a double-bass player, I have also ventured into video and sound work.

Disciplines: Mixed Media
