More ways to get involved with Visual Arts Scotland. In addition to our exhibition program, VAS offers residencies and other opportunities through the year.
1st June 2026 - 30th September 2026
We are thrilled to announce that we will be piloting a new Mentorship programme to begin this summer. We are calling on all VAS members interested in acting as either a mentor or a mentee.
26th June 2026 - 31st August 2026
Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) presents Strata, a new exhibition of wall-based works exploring landscape through layering, material, and time.
Opening this June at Wasps Artists’ Studios Inverness Creative Academy, the exhibition brings together artists whose practices engage with the processes that shape land and matter alike.
10–17 October 2026
Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) is delighted to announce the sixth year of residency in partnership with Bothy Project in October 2026.
This opportunity offers a Visual Arts Scotland member the chance to spend a week-long residency at Sweeney’s Bothy, a simple off grid building in unique surroundings on the stunning Isle of Eigg, part of the Scottish Inner Hebrides.
30–31 December 2026
We currently have 3 positions open to join our council and work with the VAS team to deliver our exciting programme of events.
Trustees and co-opt council members are not paid, however this is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience in the nuts and bolts of exhibitions and residencies, as well as having a voice in a team who are working hard to support the future of the visual arts in Scotland. The council meets online every 8 weeks, with smaller groups meeting more regularly to plan projects, select for exhibitions, or gather on site for the hands-on work required at exhibition venues.
We are committed as a society to supporting and exhibiting a diverse range of contemporary Scottish art, in a wide variety of media – including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, jewellery, ceramics and sculpture.
