Emily Atkins is an artist based in Edinburgh. Her paintings encapsulate the tranquil experience of being in the outdoors. Her ‘Breathe Deeply’ collection is based on the calming internal world Emily created during her therapy, where she could retreat to and just be. Emily allows the natural environment to physically influence her work ‘en plein air’ and presses natural matter, such as flowers, into her paintings to create relief. Through her paintings and accompanying prose, Emily invites the viewer to stand still, breathe and be transported into each landscape.
