I am a Korean artist currently completing an MA in Contemporary Art Practice in the UK. I work across sculpture, installation and video, exploring gendered power relations taken for granted in everyday life. Drawing on personal experiences and observations, my work transforms and rearranges familiar objects and situations to reveal the social rules and hierarchies embedded within them. Through the properties and formal contrasts of materials, I explore themes of visibility, exposure and control, drawing attention to sensory states emerging from the contrast between the material and immaterial, and instability. Moving between the personal and political, I question what is accepted as universal truth or common sense, inviting viewers to see the familiar from different perspectives.
