Sauser

I am a multi-disciplinary artist who utilizes multiple mediums in my work such as ceramics, linoleum block cuts, and digital design. Present throughout my work is a natural influence. However, I do not wish to just show the beauty of nature with my work, but rather the sometimes unpalatable side of the environment that shows the systems that our world functions in spite of, and because of. While I currently work as an artist, I have a background in ecological and climate sciences that I incorporate into my art to educate or create conversation. Currently, I am creating a series of sculptures that appear to be skeletal, starving, or withering away. I intend to put these pieces through a bisque firing only, then place them in different ecosystems with different land, water, and air quality ratings and document the changes that happen, if and how the ecosystem interacts with the work, and if the level of degradation that the pieces experiences over the same course of time.
