Xi Luo is a multidisciplinary artist. She primarily explores a visual language around femininity that resists being fixed or simplified. It’s not just about representation rather, it’s about transformation, through different mediums such as textile, painting, flora design and photography, normally inspired by plants, western philosophical novels and ancient Chinese poetry. She considers art as a path to explore the timeless paradoxes of life, death and rebirth, togetherness and loss, hope and fear, aiming to express humans’ most common emotions. Her practice engages with self-identity, transformation, emotions, dreams, femininity and psychological states. Through different mediums, she weaves these tensions into poetic forms, allowing them to speak of both fragility and strength. She enjoys making creative experiments in her works, such as combining silk and wool to convey the texture of a flower blooming and decaying at the same time. She often uses botanical forms as both image and language, exploring the slippage between human and plant, between interior and exterior. Her works have been reported by some media like ArtMag and Art Plugged, her works have been exhibited in multiple countries.
