Lazcano-Thornton

I am an abstract painter, exploring a love of textures, pattern, form, and colour. Working with acrylics allows me to move quickly, layering pen, oil pastels, and pencil to build up surfaces in a playful manner. I also enjoy working on a small scale with pen and pencil, creating mindful and organic patterns. My recent works are heavily inspired by a fascination with Greek mythology. The story of Odysseus and his Hero’s Journey is a current piece in monochrome, an unusual practice for me, but I felt the story demanded drama and the stark contrast between war and loyalty. Alongside this, I have been researching entomology, captured by the intricacies of bugs, their forms, their symmetry, and their colour. I have a passion for dance and movement, and find this form of expression compliements when I am working on larger canvases.
