My work moves between abstraction, figuration, and interior space, exploring themes of memory, presence, identity, and emotional experience. Through intuitive processes of layering, colour, texture, and distortion, I create paintings that exist between observation and feeling, often drawing on atmosphere, light, and the psychological weight of everyday spaces and objects. There are some things I know and lots I don’t know – but I know it comes out in my work capturing all the paradoxes of life. Stripping back observations and then layering them into textured stories that connect us all. I am a fine artist working with oils. I was born in 1968 living in Yorkshire until my twenties when I moved to Scotland and never went back. From the rolling hills of Fife to the rugged coastline and mountains of Angus I now live in Edinburgh. My viewpoint is often slightly skewed, reflecting how it feels to exist a bit outside the usual structures. These works are about a life that has been nomadic, improvised, and shaped by circumstance. They look at how identity forms through where you stand, what you see, and what remains.
