Visual Arts Scotland is a vibrant arts charity committed to supporting artists and promoting inclusivity within the arts community. As we celebrate our centenary, we're looking for a Treasurer to help guide us into the next century.

We are seeking a dedicated individual to play a crucial role in shaping the financial future of our organisation. We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about the arts and have a strong background in financial management.

Role Overview:

As Treasurer, you will be responsible for managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to financial planning and decision-making processes. This is classed as an Office Holder role under charity legislation. It offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the arts sector while working alongside a passionate and dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing banking and accounts using FreeAgent.

  • Issuing receipts, recording money received and managing invoices.

  • Preparing financial reports for regulatory compliance and funding applications. 

  • With Office Holders and wider Council, making certain that all financial affairs are conducted properly and accurately reported.

  • Managing risk and ensuring compliance and accountability with our governing document, eternal regulators and the law.

  • Contributing to budgets and financial planning.

  • Attending Council meetings and presenting financial reports.

 Requirements:

  • Strong financial management skills.

  • Experience with accounting software (experience with FreeAgent is preferred but not required).

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Commitment to the values and mission of Visual Arts Scotland.

 

Time Commitment:

This is a voluntary, unpaid role. However, reasonable travel and expenses will be covered. It is anticipated that the tasks will require a minimum of 12 hours per month.
