Introducing a new residency partnership with Marchmont House
Visual Arts Scotland and Marchmont House are proud to partner to deliver a fully funded week at sea from 11th-17th April 2021 for two artists to explore the islands and wild coastlines of the West Coast of Scotland. Applications can be made from 21 December and the offer is open to Visual Arts Scotland Members.
This residency will host two artists on a week aboard a 50ft yacht, Whimbrel, a Bluewater catamaran, exploring the remote and beautiful coasts and waters around Arran and the Firth of Clyde.
Artists will be able to set their own own itinerary for their voyage, under the experienced eye of skipper, Ben Merrit. Artists will receive free board, meals, a stipend, plus travel expenses to and from Troon where Whimbrel is moored.
This residency is to enable creatives to have a unique and rich research and development opportunity. We are interested in selecting artists whose work will clearly benefit from this research and development period so do bear this in mind when writing your application for this opportunity. Further details can be found in the Guidance Document below. We recommend artists read fully before applying. For more information about Whimbrel itself, please follow this link here: https://yachtwhimbrel.com/
During 2021 VAS members will be able to apply for other supported residency opportunities at Marchmont House. We look forward to revealing details of these at a later date in 2021.
