New VAS President | Expressions of Interest

Feb 24th 2023

Expression of Interest

Deadline for applications (extended): Monday 10 April, midnight.

Join us for a Q&A with President Sarah Calmus to gain more insight into the role! Wednesday 5 April, 6-7pm.

We are looking for expressions of interest for the role of President of our member-led society at an exciting and important time for VAS. This volunteer role typically serves a three year tenure and works alongside the volunteer Council to programme, curate and build opportunities for the membership, which currently stands at almost 1000 members across Scotland and beyond. The current post is held until April 2023 and the next President would oversee our Centenary Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2024 as well as our organisational changes and current fixed programme of events and exhibitions for the membership.

It is important to the VAS community that we are serving our membership best by continuing to build healthier organisational infrastructure and it is with this in mind that we are offering, for the first time, a small honorarium (to be confirmed on an annual basis at each AGM) to the incoming President, to help encourage a fairer dynamic and an inclusive approach. Please note that all Presidents and Council Members are VAS Members and if you are not currently a member, you will be expected to join.

How to apply:

If you are interested in this role, please send a cover letter outlining your experience, how you might approach the role and your current CV. Applicants will be notified by 17th April and shortllisted candidates will be expected to interview on the 20th April 2023. For further information, please email rowanvisualarts@gmail.com for an info pack about the organisation, recent programme and the outline of the President role.

Deadline for applications (extended): Monday 10 April, midnight.

Please help us by completing this anonymous Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form.
