For all the strangeness and difficulty of recent times, we were very excited to share some cheerl: Visual Arts Scotland were shortlisted for The Creative Edinburgh 2020 Award:

“Because it’s been a year! This is for those who have pivoted, shifted and re-approached under almost impossible circumstances to support the wider community and respond to hardships faced with creative solutions.”

Since 2013, Creative Edinburgh have been highlighting and celebrating the projects, organisations, initiatives and people that make the city so special through the Creative Edinburgh Awards. Edinburgh is a hub of cultural activity both nationally and internationally and these awards seek to commend its creative community.

Earlier in the year, we launched the Emergency Art Workers Support Fund (EAWSF), a temporary relief fund that aims to support Creative Practitioners who have been impacted by COVID-19. Our aims are always to support our community and membership, whether that be through opportunities for funding, exhibitions, mentorship, workshops and more. As you all know, VAS is a volunteer-led arts organisation and to have the team’s hard work acknowledged is a huge pleasure for all of us.

Although we did not win, we were thrilled to be considered for the Award so thank you to the team at Creative Edinburgh and to all our collaborators and supporters. With love and in solidarity,
