Stella Marina is a British artist, writer and Creative Director whose interdisciplinary practice explores survival, memory and our evolving relationship with the natural world. Having spent the past fourteen years living and working at sea, her work is deeply informed by the rhythms of the sea, remote landscapes and the knowledge held within maritime cultures. Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, moving image and writing, Stella creates immersive works that inhabit the space between documentation and mythology. Her practice draws upon folklore, navigation, ecology and material culture to examine how stories shape our understanding of place and how we might imagine more resilient futures in an age of environmental and technological change. A graduate of Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, Stella was awarded the CCW Moving Image Prize and received recognition from D&AD for her illustration work. Alongside her studio practice, she has built a career in visual communication and storytelling through the sailing company she co-directs, where she combines design, photography and narrative to share the landscapes and communities of the Scottish coast. Current research centres on maritime language, disappearing coastal traditions and speculative futures, with projects spanning non-fiction, fiction and sculptural installation. She is particularly interested in the meeting point between ancient ways of knowing and emerging technologies, asking how art can help us navigate uncertainty while remaining rooted in the physical world. Through her work, Stella seeks to create spaces of quiet reflection, wonder and reconnection with the landscapes that sustain us.
