My films are inspired by Scotland’s land, people, and history. I work with analogue moving image, using predominantly 16mm film. My practice explores what Hamish Henderson described as the “carrying stream”: the continual transmission of stories, songs, language, and local knowledge between generations. My most recent work, For The Islands I Sing, is a film shot across the islands of Orkney – following the traces of George Mackay Brown, using his texts as a form of shot list, operating with a roll of film a day for five days. The film premiered at Cinema du Reel festival in Paris and helped me collect the First Place prize from Outerspaces in their 2026 graduate awards.
