VAS is a charity registered in Scotland No. SCO 006715. We are not in receipt of any public or core funding and as such are entirely reliant on the support of the artistic community. VAS is forever indebted to the members of the Council, past and present, whose voluntary efforts make all VAS exhibitions and events happen, and also to the ever generous membership who continue to subscribe to VAS and to contribute the high standard of work that ensures the society continues to be a well respected outlet for the arts in Scotland.
There are a number of ways in which you can support VAS and ensure the future of this historically significant society.
2012 Fundraising Events
Visit the Winter Warmer and Brown Bag Bonanza for details on our evening of poetry music and chat with guest star author Candia McWilliam on Thursday 23rd February. The evening event will see the culmination of our Brown Bag Bonanza, where 100 bags filled with valuable works by illustrious artists can be bought for just £50. Come along on the evening and see if you can ‘bag’ yourself a Victoria Crowe or a Barbara Rae, or follow the link above to order in advance of the event.
Easyfundraising is a revolution in charity fundraising and lets you raise money for your nominated charity while you shop on line, and best of all, it costs you nothing! It’s the easiest way to help raise money for Visual Arts Scotland. If you already shop online with retailers such as Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Comet, iTunes, eBay or HMV, then we need you to sign up for free to raise money while you shop.
You shop directly with the retailer as you would normally, but if you sign up to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/vas for free and use the links on the easyfundraising site to take you to the retailer, then a percentage of whatever you spend comes directly to us at no extra cost to yourself.
Spend £100 with M&S online or Amazon and you raise £2.50 for us. £100 with WH Smith puts £2.00 in our pocket and so on. There are over 2,000 retailers on the site, and some of the donations can be as much as 15% of your purchase. Every donation of even a few pence mounts up. Simply register, follow the link from the easyfundraising site to the online store of your choice, and shop as normal.
Make a Donation
You can use the form below to make a donation to Visual Arts Scotland. Donations will be used to enhance the societies’ education programme, selection of invited artists, and will help to enable satelliteexhibitions outwith the Annual Exhibition. You can choose whether or not to have your details published on our donation wall.
The Exhibiting Societies of Scottish Artists, or ESSA, is a collaborative fundraising venture between ourselves (VAS), The Society of Scottish Artists (SSA), and the Royal Scottish Society of painters in Watercolour (RSW). ESSA organises regular selling events, such as an art auction and a postcard sale. Funds raised go towards the rental costs of the RSA building to host the annual exhibitions of the respective societies, which amounts to around £30,000 per year. ESSA is greatly indebted to the members of the three societies for their continued support and donations of quality artworks. Visit the ESSA website for more information.
