I have a great diversity of interests and work in the genre of still life, landscape and abstract paintings. The realism of my Art College training continues and it is a struggle to change this search for naturalism. The abstract works are a cathartic exploration towards the one perfect painting.
Travelling gives me inspiration and helps to counteract the sombreness of Scottish buildings and landscapes. Portuguese windows, white villages in Andalucia and Venetian facades all excite my love of colour and texture.
Since giving up teaching to become a full time painter I have been fortunate to be able to show my work and to have many people who enjoy the mood or atmosphere of these diverse images. I hope people pause for a while and give the work some thought.
