Alison Dickson
Ordinary Member
Primarily a landscape painter, Alison’s work also includes occasional still life subjects. She was born in Ireland and has lived in Scotland for 15 years. She exhibits in both Ireland and Scotland.
Her work was recently selected for Royal Scottish Academy Spring Open Exhibition as well as for the Glebe Open Exhibition. She also had a 35-piece sellout solo exhibition, ‘Breathing Space’, in December 2007.
Her principal inspiration stems from an interest in the nature of wide open land and seascapes under weather-laden skies. Recurring themes are to do with the interlocking shapes, and patterns of the land, water and sky.
She uses a reduced palette, with simple shapes, colours and pattern. The texture is obtained by using skewers, knives and sometimes collage, creating shifting dynamics within each piece.
