26 MacDowall Road Tel: 0131 667 5581 Primarily a landscape painter, Alison’s work also includes occasional still life subjects. She was born in Ireland and has lived in Scotland for 14 years. Exhibitions include a solo show, ‘Breathing Space’ and group exhibitions in both Scotland and Ireland. Her principal inspiration stems from an interest in the nature of wide open land and seascapes under weather-laden skies. Recurring themes are to do with the interlocking shapes, and patterns of the land, water and sky. Using a reduced palette, layers of colour and pattern are simplified to create a level of abstraction. A variety of tools, including skewers and painting knives are used to make marks revealing the colours in the layers below, creating shifting dynamics within each piece. Exhibitions include Southside Gallery, Edinburgh, oil paintings - Basement Gallery, Enniskillen, oil paintings Lucie Fenton Gallery, Edinburgh, oil paintings Higher Bridges Gallery, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh Flat Cat Gallery, Lauder, oil paintings
