Primarily a landscape painter, Alison’s work also includes occasional still life subjects. She was born in Ireland and has lived in Scotland for 14 years. Exhibitions include a solo show, ‘Breathing Space’ and group exhibitions in both Scotland and Ireland.

Her principal inspiration stems from an interest in the nature of wide open land and seascapes under weather-laden skies. Recurring themes are to do with the interlocking shapes, and patterns of the land, water and sky.

Using a reduced palette, layers of colour and pattern are simplified to create a level of abstraction. A variety of tools, including skewers and painting knives are used to make marks revealing the colours in the layers below, creating shifting dynamics within each piece.
