We are committed as a society to supporting and exhibiting a diverse range of contemporary Scottish art, in a wide variety of media - including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, jewellery, ceramics and sculpture.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Professional Membership is by election which usually takes place at the AGM in May/June and is aimed at working artists and people whose main occupationis in the creation or promotion of the visual arts. Members are encouragedto become actively involved in the running of Visual Arts Scotland.

Professional members will be able to guide and influence the policy and decision making body of the society. They will be responsible for electing new professional members and will also elect the members of council and the president of the society.

Professional members will also be expected to take an active role inselecting, hanging and arranging annual and satellite exhibitions. It isalso hoped that professional members will help to promote the societies cause and image and encourage others to join VAS.

VAS in return will provide a society that will support and encourage its professional members and provide exhibition opportunities on a regular basis.

In addition to membership benefits listed above Professional members will also have Council and committee opportunities.

ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP

Ordinary membership is aimed at people whose interests are in the Visual Arts. Ordinary members must show a commitment and a sense of creativity in the artwork they produce, though the making of visual art may not be the sole or primary occupation of the member.

Member benefits include all of the above.

Costs £30
(£20 for senior citizens/receiving benefits)


ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Aimed at art students, artists who have graduated in the last three years and artists under 25 years of age. Its main purpose is to provide a low cost membership for young people who might otherwise be unable to afford the full cost of membership.Visual Arts Scotland will endeavour to provide support for the younger, less established artist.
