To get to know structure and form, the shadows and planes of an object, by the process of drawing and carving; that drives my work.
Skeletons, forms, shadows and shapes are inside.
Stone is my favourite material, it is alive. Stone is never blank but contains life inside it, sometimes forms and fossils, sometimes its own ideas and inspiration.
The process itself, of carving and drawing, or the making of marks on paper to explain and express images, dictates the final work.
Drawing and Painting - at Leith School of Art, tutor Alan McGowan.
Sculpture - Stonemasonry course at Telford College ; followed by Stone carving at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, tutor Alex Lopez.
