Gillian Swaile

Originally from Carnoustie in Angus, I am a self taught artist and printmaker living in Northumberland National Park. As an act of self care, I decided to give up the day job to become a full time artist & printmaker in 2020 (just before the pandemic!)
I produce mono prints, screen prints and drypoint, but my work predominantly involves linocut printmaking. I have illustrated a book of short stories for an award winning author. I am an active studio member at Northern Print in Newcastle, participating in projects and member exhibitions. I have an upcoming solo exhibition this October, at Allendale Forge Studios, Northumberland. I am lucky to live rurally, in a designated dark skies area. My inspiration comes from the celestial bodies above, and the wildlife that surrounds me, both in the North Tyne valley and the vast expanse of Kielder Forest.
