MEET THE ARTIST

Highland duo Yellow Broom are looking to expand their material base with a focus on the ceramic casting process and how it can be applied to a body of architectural inspired lighting. This shift in materiality from locally sourced wood came about during a project based in Iceland during which they increasingly became interested in Icelandic architecture. A lack of any timber source forced them to look at the introduction of another material, resulting in a new body of tin profile lighting, inspired by local building materials. They are now looking to continue to develop this theme with the introduction of cast elements inspired by the block like rooftops in the city of Reykjavik. They are drawn to the possibilities of cast Parian, which has a marble-like finish and opaqueness that gives way to a subtle translucency with the introduction of a light source, and are looking for a specialist in this field to help them realise this project.
